LEVI’S P.O.V.

Today Erwin ordered an all squad leader training retreat and in only two hours I was already annoyed out of my damn mind. I sat below the shadow of a big tree, until an annoying voice I knew all too well interrupted my silence.

“Levi~!”

‘Damn that Shitty Glasses.’ I glared at her as she approached me with a stupid grin on her face

“What?” I stated coldly to which she just giggled.

“Guess what~” I growled.

“You and (Y/N) are training partners~”

I looked at her annoyed, snapping, “So?”

“Oh don’t be like that! You know you like her~”

I growled again, more annoyed this time. “I do not.” ...I admit you are the only one amongst all these brats that don’t annoy the hell out of me, most of the time, and I like to keep you around but that does not mean I like you.

Does it?

..Damn it, Shitty Glasses is getting in my head! Her annoying laugh cut my thoughts short. “You’re awfully quiet Levi~”

“Why you-”

“Hey Hanji!” Behind Hanji the owner of the voice ran up to us causing Hanji to give a shit eating grin at me and turn to you.

“Hi (Y/N)!”

“Hey, Mike’s looking for you. He said something about it being important.” Hanji sighed, but not before turning back to me and adding,

“Oh well! Good luck Levi~” Then she winked and left.

I grumbled plenty of curses at her as she left, but you sat down next to me with a smile, anyways.

“Hi Levi. How are you?”

“Annoyed.” I muttered, and you just giggled.

“Guessed as much.”

“...Mike never called for Hanji, did he?”

“Nope.”

‘Smart as usual’

“Guessed as much, thank you.”

“No problem. But Hanji did tell you we’re partners, right?”

“Yeah, but not for what”

“3DM-Gear race; we’re supposed to go against another team on a route Erwin’s going to give us.”

“Tch. That’s pointless, but easy enough.”

“Yep! It starts in about 15 minutes, so do you mind if I stay here in the meantime? It’s a perfect reading spot.”

“As long as you don’t annoy me.”

“You got it.” She agreed, and I just leaned my head back on the tree and closed my eyes.

But, after a short while, I opened one of my eyes and my gaze landed on you.

How your (h/l), (h/c) hair framed your face perfectly, how your gaze was so soft and hypnotic, how your (e/c) eyes shined with the sun’s rays.

‘She’s really beautiful.’ While I was distracted your gaze met mine.

“Hey, Levi, what’s up? I thought you were asleep.”

“I tried, but couldn’t.”

“Oh, I see.”

“What’s it about?” I asked, attempting to start a conversation

“Hmm?”

“The book, stupid.”

“Oh! Well, it’s a romantic novel I found in the corner of the library. It’s the story of two lovers who were separated, all because one of them had a terrible accident and doesn’t remember the other.”

“Sounds shitty.” You giggled, again.

“I thought you might say that. In the beginning, I thought so too, but it isn’t that bad.” I nodded my head and with that everything went quiet again until you spoke up.

“Hey, Levi.” I glanced at you “Do you like to read?”

“Sometimes. Depends on the book.”

“Really? What kind of books do you like?”

I thought for a moment. “...I guess a good detective story”

You laughed a little and I heard you mutter under your breath a quick “yes”. I became suspicious and raised an eyebrow at you.

“What’s so funny, brat?” You did that giggle again. You always seem to be doing that around me, and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

“Oh, nothing.”

Before I could question you any further Erwin’s strong voice resonated throughout the site. “Alright, the 3DM-Gear training is about to begin. Soldiers, stand in position!”

You placed your book back in the bag you had, and stood up, offering your hand to me. “Come on, Levi, we’re the first ones. The sooner we end this the sooner we can relax!”

I nodded and took your hand. Standing up I saw something on your head. You would make a mess of yourself no matter where you went, wouldn’t you?

“Oi, brat. You have a leaf in your hair.” I said as I grabbed it and threw it on the ground. As I did, I could have sworn you had a light blush on your cheeks, but I think I imagined it. “Thank you, Levi.” You said looking at your feet and since you were a few inches shorter your hair covered your face.

“Whatever, just don’t turn into slob like the rest of these brats” You laughed and looked up to me with a bright smile.

“Yes sir! Now let’s got shall we?” I nodded and started to walk off while she followed behind ‘Now if I can just get this over with quickly so I can get a break from these brats.’

Your P.O.V. (second person point of view)

The race started off without a hitch, and you and Levi were in the lead by quite the distance. You were a few feet behind him and couldn't help but notice his very handsome features. His steely eyes, his pale skin, the way his hair danced in the wind, the way a branch was about to hit you…

Wait a second-

“Gah!” you screamed as you barely got out of harm’s way.

“(Y/N) stay focused!” Levi scolded you.

“R-Right, sorry!”

“We’re almost there. I can see the clearing just a ways ahead!”

“Alright!” You sped up and stayed by his side.

Just as you exited the thicket of trees and was greeted warmly by the sun’s bright rays you felt yourself slip away higher than you thought your gear could take you.

“(Y/N)!” You heard Levi scream at you, and that’s when you realized it.

Your belt broke off your gear and you were falling.

Levi tried to grab you, but it all happened so fast he only managed to graze his fingers against your own.

‘Is this it?’ You saw for the first time in your life Levi with an expression of horror as you fell, the bright sun that shined behind him made him look even more handsome, making a single regret appear on your mind.

‘I never told him how I felt..’
