Taking a chance Armin x Reader

Polar opposites. That was the phrase that described you and Armin perfectly. You were loud and outspoken, always full of life and energy, you couldn’t stay still for too long because you craved to be up and about, you loved hanging out with the guys and in combat training, you couldn’t be beat –Mikasa aside-. While he was quiet and shy, always so calm and collected, the type of person who would enjoy spending his days reading away in silence, he was never really social, much less confident and while he was a true genius, he did the one thing his mind constantly nagged him not to do, and that was to fall for you.

He just couldn’t help getting lost in your beautiful gem like eyes or stop his heart from racing every time you hugged or placed your arm around him in a friendly matter, there was no doubt that against his better judgment, he was in love with you. Although if you ever felt the same way, even in the slightest, you sure knew how to hide it, he could never see what was behind of that beautiful smile, even though for some reason he was your closest friend, you were a mystery he desperately wanted to solve, to know what went on in that head of yours and figure out what was he to you, but until that day he would have to deal with his endless amount of questions.

He sighed as he took his place next to you and Eren, while placing his tray of what is supposed to be tonight’s dinner, on the crowded table. For the entire day he had been thinking on how he could try to figure out if you returned his feelings but he only managed to exhaust himself mentally. You wrapped your arm around him and pulled him close to you, why did you have to be taller than him? It only made him even more nervous even if was just two more inches.

“What’s wrong Armin buddy? Something’s bothering you huh? Who do I have to beat up?” You said with a bright smile making him blush.

“N-no one! I’m fine, just a little tired that’s all…” He said looking at his tray while you sighed and pat him on the back, retracting your arm to continue to eat.

“I might not be a genius like you are Armin, but I’m not as stupid as you might think, I know something’s bothering you but if you don’t want to talk about it I won’t push it, just know I’m all ears if you need to vent out” You said with a serious expression as you took a spoonful of your meal into your mouth to which he blushed scarlet

“No {Name}! I would never think of you as stupid!” You chuckled and bumped him with your shoulder playfully

“You better not or I might just have to find a way to show it to you” You winked at him, making him shiver and blush

“Yo, bookworm and beast you two done with your flirting?” Jean said with a cocky smirk

“We weren’t-”

“Aw what’s wrong horsey~? You’re not jealous are you?”

“Stop it with the horsey! Damn Jaeger and his damn mouth”

“What with me horseface?!” Eren said from his place next to Armin

“You heard me!”

“SO!” you interrupted “Did you guys hear? A group of MP’s are visiting headquarters right now” Both of them scoffed at this

“Yeah those cowards are here to ‘inspect’ that everything is according to regulations.” Eren crossed his arms

“In other words they’re just here to check that titan ass over there isn’t doing whatever he wants”

“What was that horseface?!” The sound the mess hall’s doors opening left a dead silence throughout the room.

“Well speak of the devils…” Eren said as he glared behind him, you followed his gaze but as soon as you saw them you quickly turned to face your now empty plate and lowered your head. Armin noticed this and felt something was wrong so he began to worry, it was rare to see you with a grim expression such as this one not even at expeditions did you show such a thing.

The hall slowly started to revert to its previous state of idly chatter while you keep your head down as if hiding yourself. Armin looked around him but everyone just kept shrugging their shoulders at his pleading look which left him with no other choice but to confront you himself.

“Hey {Name} are you ok?” You nodded your head but wouldn’t look up

“Are you sure?”

“{Name}?” You visibly flinched

Standing behind you was one of the MP’s with a shit eating grin that made Armin sick to his stomach

“Well I’ll be! You’re still alive! And here I thought a pussy like you would die the second they left the wall!” He laughed and you ducked your head in deeper.

“Hey! Who the hell are you?!” Eren said while glaring

“Aw! You didn’t tell them about us? That’s cold.” He chuckled “Well if you have to know brat, I’m {Name}’s ex-boyfriend”

“Ex-boyfriend?” Armin repeated “{Name} is that true?” You nodded your head

“See? Well not much has changed aside from the fact you’ve gotten ugly as fuck. The scouts not treating you good?” He laughed “Oh! And let me guess you’re still single. Well it’s obvious no one in the right mind would date you! I think I had few screws missing when I dated you too!” He laughed mockingly and at this Jean stood up

“Listen you-!”

“Jean, stop it! I’m leaving…”

“Aw did I hurt your feelings babe~?” A lone tear started to run down your cheek as you pushed your tray away and started to turn to leave. Armin had just enough of this guy, he was treating you like trash and you were just taking it, he wasn’t about to allow such a thing. He hated the fact that jerk made you cry almost as much as the fact that he managed to be the object of your affection, something he so desperately craved to be. So he gathered his courage and did something no one, not even him, imagined he would do.

As soon as you faced him before standing to leave, he wrapped an arm around your waist, the other behind your head and crashed his lips with yours. Your eyes went wide but after a second or two you closed your eyes and kissed back. Your lips were the sweetest poison he could ever taste, something so sweet, so addictive, it was so much better than he ever imagined it would be and left him craving more. Eventually he broke the passionate kiss and looked at your {E/C} half lidded eyes and equally crimson coated cheeks. Everyone at the table looked at a loss for words as well as your ex, but he quickly began to glare at the both of you.

“Oh so that scrawny weakling is your boyfriend?! Big shit he’s-!” He was cut off by your fist connecting with the left side of his face making him lose his balance and fall to his side. The entire room fell silent everyone looking at the scene with wide eyes.

“Listen you piece of shit, you can say whatever the fuck you want about me, drag me through the dirt if that’s your wish! But say one thing about Armin or any of my friends and I will personally beat the ever living shit out of you and destroy your worthless existence! Got it?!”

He clicked his tongue in response while holding his swelling cheek but he did not move from his spot. Your fists tightened and upon realizing the scene you had caused you dashed out of the room. Seconds after your absence settled, people started to murmur to each other while your ex took what was left of his dignity and went to sit with his companions. It was at that point that Armin reacted and dashed out behind you.

‘Damn it I screwed up! I should have never caused a scene like that! Why on earth did I allow myself to act on impulse?!’

Armin ran all the way outside knowing that was the place you liked to go when you needed to clear your mind. The cold night breeze made goose bumps appear on his skin but he didn’t mind them so long as he could find you and try to salvage whatever relationship he had left with you. He approached the west side of building where a small garden was located, and walking towards the tall tree in the middle was you. Armin was about to approach you but froze when you leaned against the tree with a wide smile and biting your lower lip. He decided to hide behind the wall of the building and observe for the moment.

“He kissed me…” You said while touching your lips

“He kissed me. Armin kissed me!” Your smile grew

“Woohoo! Sweet Maria, Rose and Sina I can’t believe it! My crush kissed me!” Armin froze at your words

‘Crush?! {Name} has a crush on me?!’

“He kissed me! And I kissed him! God that was amazing! Plus my ex saw it AND I punched him!” You giggled while punching the air excitedly

“This is the best day of my life!” You started to jump around excitedly and that was enough to bring a smile to his lips.

“Wait! Could this mean he likes me or was it just to spite my ex? Gah! Now I don’t know what to do! I won’t be able to face him if he did to spite him! Ah man! Why is this so hard? Ok, let’s look at this logically, facts: Armin’s super handsome, smart, kind, gentle, generous, just amazing and I’m…” You looked at yourself with a sour expression

‘Time to take another chance I guess…’ He took a deep breath and gathered his courage and began to approach you with calm slow steps even though his heart was racing.

“Nothing close-”

“You’re beautiful, strong, talented, you have skills no one can match, you’re kind, loving, warm hearted and most of all…” He took your hand in his and looked straight into your (E/C) eyes while swallowing the lump in his throat. “I’m in love with you…” He felt his blood burn his cheek’s skin but stood firm while you smiled and threw yourself at him in a warm embrace he returned gladly

“You really mean it?” You said resting your forehead on his.

“Y-yes I do” He said with a shy smile his confidence fading, this made you giggle and you swiftly crashed your lips upon his, he responded immediately and held you tighter one hand traveling upwards to tangle with your (H/L) (H/C) locks deepening the kiss. You moaned slightly and leaned back against the tree letting him pin you.

“Whoa! Armin’s getting some!”  Jean’s all too familiar voice sounded throughout the garden with a few whistles and cat calls making you break the kiss and separate from your rather compromising position.

“Man I always knew you had it in you!” Eren said as he approached his best friend and patted his back with a smile “To think we were actually worried something bad would happen! But you’re actually enjoying yourself huh buddy?”

“EREN!” Armin blushed crimson and you chuckled

“And {Name} you were enjoying yourself too weren’t you~?” Reiner said with a smug look on his face which you returned

“You know what? Yes! I was! He’s a fucking a good kisser and YOU are all a bunch of cockblocks!” The area roared in laughter except for Armin who was too embarrassed to do so.

“{NAME}!”

“What? It was getting good until they interrupted!” Armin hid his face in between his hands now a blushing mess making you chuckle

“Alright, alright that’s enough guys” You said shooing them away with your hands with a small chuckle amused by your new boyfriend’s adorable expression.

“Alright we get the message” Connie said waving his hands

“Yeah, just don’t stay out too late or else the corporal might put on stable duty for a month” Eren said as they walked away and left

“Finally they’re gone!”

“{NAME}! Why did you say that?!”

“What?! They ruined it!”

“But you made it sound like we were going to do… IT!”

“Oh we weren’t?” You asked innocently

“How could you say it so bluntly?!”

“Sorry! You know I’m blunt by nature!” He sighed

“Well… What’s done is done I guess…”

“Yep! So how about…” You pulled him down on the ground with you leaning against the tree “We stay here a while, just the two of us?” He smiled softly

“I’d like that” You smiled and leaned against his chest while he wrapped his arms around you.

“I love you Armin” you said pecking his lips

“I love you too, always have” and with that he claimed your lips with a sweet passionate kiss that expressed more than words ever could.

You and Armin walked back into the mess hall hand in hand, which caught the attention of most of your comrades that started to whisper amongst themselves.

“Ugh! Is seeing us together that big of a deal?” Armin blushed a light pink and smiled

“Well one of the strongest soldiers holding hands with a bookworm like me, is an odd sight” You rolled your eyes and sighed as you both returned to your table and leaned your head on his shoulder. At this the whispers grew louder and a few squeals could be heard.

“Oh for the love of-!”

“{Name} calm down” Armin said with a nervous laugh

“They are pissing me off!” Jean chuckled

“They just don’t believe you two are actually together, hell I still can’t believe it and I saw the two of you making out!” You heard a few phrases like ‘What?!’ and ‘No way!’ from the tables nearby which spread out quickly.

“That’s it!”

“{Name} what-” You interrupted him by grabbing him by the collar of his shirt and crashing your lips on his. You heard gasps, squeals and someone doing a spit take at the sight. You broke the kiss and turned towards your spectators with a smirk.

“Alright anyone who didn’t get that hint, yes! Armin and I are a couple now, so could all of you cut your yapping about us?!” The hall went silent, then laughter and finally it’s normal idle chatter, well most of it. As for Jean, Eren, Connie, Reiner, Ymir and Sasha who were gasping for breath while holding their stomachs or banging the table with their fists.

“Oh! HA! I can’t believe you actually-! HAHA! Did it!” Jean said trying to catch his breath between laughs

“{Name}! Why did you do that?!” Armin was blushing a deep shade of red all the way to his ears

“Oh come on! First, I find it hard to believe you weren’t annoyed by that! Second don’t act like you didn’t like it and third, you better get used to it because I plan to do that every time I can, you’re a damn good kisser” You finished with a wink that made him blush even more

“It wasn’t that I didn’t like it… you’re really good too…” He murmured quietly but you heard him clearly. You smirked and leaned closer to his ear.

“Well if you want we could go somewhere else and continue where we left off~” You purred in his ear

“{Name}!” He looked at you with wide eyes which made you chuckle and sit up straight

“Relax I’m only half kidding” You winked and he sighed

“What am I going to do with you?” You laughed

“Love me a lot?” You smiled brightly and he smiled shyly

“I already do”

“Good because we’re even then”
